    Mike May, LCSW-A, LCAS-A

    Current openings!

It goes without saying the last few years have been challenging for just about anyone. The pandemic has affected all of us in various ways, from job loss to losing loved ones, no one has been immune to its impacts. It has also put a renewed focus on maintaining mental health, however this is an issue that many people have struggled with long before the pandemic. Acknowledging challenges and growing through them can be uncomfortable, but the mind, body and spirit are exceptional and powerful when properly harnessed. It takes courage and acceptance to make the decision to seek professional guidance in order to work through the challenges of life, and I will be your guide.

Throughout my 10+ years of mental health and substance abuse counseling experience, I have been given the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families, through life transitions, addiction, relationship issues, chronic illness/pain, self worth, anxiety and depression. I am also experienced at working with individuals on pain management and/or opiate replacement therapies including Subutex, Suboxone and Methadone.

Although couples counseling or working through addiction are two completely different challenges, I approach each issue the same. Developing trust and rapport are critical, and I accomplish this through non-judgmental guidance that values each individual’s thoughts, feelings, and strengths to better understand and overcome life’s challenges. I provide a safe, secure and confidential environment and I look forward to supporting you with empathy, compassion, humor, and open-mindedness.

I acknowledge that healing is not a linear process, but it is indeed a process.

It takes commitment, motivation, and hard work to cope with one’s mental health and recovery. It also takes someone to lean on, and I’m willing and able to help shoulder your burden so you can rediscover your confidence, values, and ultimately, your true self. Seeking change starts within you, but you will never be alone as we accomplish your goals.

Mike accepts BCBS and private pay. He is happy to discuss providing information for clients to submit to insurance providers other than BCBS.
